Firetruck pipe burst prompts temporary closure of Fuvahmulah Airport

Flights to Fuvahmulah City has been disrupted following the temporary closure of the city’s airport prompted a pipe burst of a firetruck used at the airport.

Only the national airline, Maldivian, operates flights to Fuvamulah City, one of the southernmost Maldivian atolls.

The airline, via a post on X on Tuesday, said scheduled flights to Fuvahmulah City has been disrupted by the temporary closure of the airport. The airline added that it was actively reaching out impacted passengers, adding it will provide all necessary assistance during this time.

Maldivian also apologized for the inconveniences arising as a result. The airline has instructed passengers who require assistance to reach out to its 24/7 call center at 1671 and [email protected].

Sun has learned that Fuvahmulah Airport temporarily closed down following the burst of a pipe of a firetruck used in the airport.

It is unclear when the airport will reopen after resolving the issue.

Notably, Fuvahmulah is an atolls where local tourism is rising. In this regard, Fuvahmulah is popular among tourists visiting the Maldives for diving.
