Indian High Commission has confirmed that a delegation including a special envoy representing the Indian government has arrived in Maldives last night.
The arrival of the envoy comes at a time when the former president Nasheed has decided to stay inside premises of the Indian High Commission in Male’. The High Commission however has not given further details regarding their arrival.
Maldivian Foreign Ministry has also revealed today that discussions are ongoing regarding the continued stay of the former president Nasheed inside the Indian High Commission. The Ministry too however has not given details of the discussions.
Foreign Ministry said that even though the High Commission has not replied to their letter requesting assistance to implement the Hulhumale’ Court order to take former president Nasheed to court, discussions between the two parties are currently on going.
Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives D. M. Mulay was recently summoned to the Maldives Foreign Ministry and was given a message of discontent to be conveyed to the Indian government regarding the continued stay of former president Nasheed inside the Indian High Commission. The Indian government however has not yet replied to the message.
