Motorcyclist arrested in fatal Kahdhdhoo accident

A motorcyclist has been arrested following a fatal accident that occurred on Friday evening on the road leading to L. Kahdhdhoo.

The incident took place around 19:18 when a motorcycle traveling from Fonadhoo to Gan collided head-on with two individuals crossing the road towards Kadhdhoo Airport. The accident resulted in injuries to the motorcycle's rider and passenger, as well as a 64-year-old woman and her grandchild.

Tragically, the 64-year-old woman injured in the accident died while receiving treatment for her injuries at Gan Regional Hospital.

Police have identified and arrested 37-year-old Mohamed Nausan of Hoaravilla/L. Fonadhoo in connection with the case.

Nausan has been brought before the court and remanded into judicial custody for a period of 15 days. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.

This accident comes amidst a recent surge of dangerous incidents on the Laamu Link Road. In a separate incident, a woman injured in a Gan accident on July 6th passed away on Thursday while receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
