BML partners with MBA to support development of basketball

Bank of Maldives (BML) on Wednesday entered into a strategic five-year partnership with the Maldives Basketball Association (MBA), a partnership that the national bank said it aimed at advancing the development of basketball in the country.

As part of this collaboration, BML said it will support the development of indoor basketball arena, which will serve as a premier venue for basketball athletes and national team training.

In addition to infrastructure development, BML is also set to provide support to two of the country’s most prominent basketball tournaments—the National Basketball League and the National 3x3 League - fostering competitive platforms that support athlete development and elevating the sport nationwide.

BML’s CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said the bank is pleased to partner with MBA and contribute to the development of basketball in the Maldives.

 “As a bank that continues to support the development of young sporting talent in the country, we are pleased to partner with Maldives Basketball Association and contribute to the sport that has grown in popularity across the country,” he said.

“The partnership reflects our commitment to nurturing local talent and advancing sports in the Maldives, and we look forward to seeing our basketballers go even further.”

Ahmed Adam, President of MBA thanked BML for its support.

The bank is a champion of sports development, supporting young athletes through its strategic partnerships and platforms, and with today’s signing, we look forward to providing our athletes with greater competitive opportunities designed to facilitate their continued success,” he said.
