A suspect has been taken into custody in connection to the killing of a young man in L Maavah on Monday morning, confirm the police.
Moosa Ibrahim, 29, Nalahiya, L. Maavah, was stabbed to death outside the volleyball court in Maavah at around 10:00 am on Monday.
An eye witness told Sun that the attacker came in from behind and stabbed Moosa Ibrahim in the neck using a knife.
He was taken to the Maavah Health Council at around 10:22 am. Doctors at the facility confirm he was already deceased when brought in.
A police spokesperson confirms they have the suspect in custody, identifying him as Mohamed Ibrahim, 29, Asaree Manzil, HDh. Nolhivaranfaru.
Investigative findings so far establish the fatality resulted from an altercation between two individuals, added the spokesperson.
The local source who spoke to Sun said that both the suspect and the victim in the case have a record for prior arrests in drug-related cases.
The case is under further investigation by the police.
