Aishath Mohamed, who is currently the Maldives’ longest serving public prosecutor, has been appointed as the deputy prosecutor general.
Aishath – who has been serving at the Prosecutor General’s Office since 2011 – was appointed to her new role by Prosecutor General Abbas Shareef on Saturday
Aishath has represented the state on a number of high-profile cases, including the money laundering cases against former Maldivian leader Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
She now joins Mahmood Saleem as deputies to Abbas.
Also on Saturday, Abbas appointed Hussain Saamy – who had been serving as a public prosecutor since 2018 - as an assistant prosecutor general.
