Twin brothers arrested with drugs

Maldives Police Service has arrested twin brothers from an apartment in Hulhumale’ while in possession of drugs.

Police, via a post on X, said two Maldivian men were arrested from an apartment in Hulhumale’ during a joint operation on suspicions of drug possession.

The suspects have been identified as 28-year-old twin brothers from M. Alivahaa, Ahmed Raif Yousuf and Raig Yousuf.

Police said substances suspected to be drugs were discovered during a search of their apartment under a court order. Other items seized from the apartment apart from this included a weed grinder, vapes, vape flavor bottles and a knife.

The case is under further investigation by the Police.

Drugs remain a prevalent social issue in the Maldives. According to the Police, 114 cases related to drugs were reported during Ramadan, and 91 suspects were arrested in connection with these cases.
