Ali Rameez’s NGO, Manfa has partnered up with legendary football player Ali Ashfaq (Dhangadey) to open a sports academy.
Ali Rameez announced that Manfa will soon be opening a sports academy via a post on his Facebook page.
In his post, Ali Rameez said work related to the academy is presently headed by renowned volleyball coach, Mohamed Sajidh (Kaattey Coach).
Speaking with Sun regarding the matter, Kaattey said the academy will focus on all sports.
He said the purpose of incepting the academy is to restore sports nationwide while upholding Islamic principles. At the onset, the academy will be focusing on three sports: football, futsal and volleyball.
“We are targeting islands more than Male’. This is to conduct academy activities in a camp style,” he detailed.
Kaateey said efforts are presently underway to form the academy’s steering committee. He added that applications for the academy will be opened once this is completed.
He noted that many islands have expressed interest in the services of the academy since the announcement of its inception.
“Very soon; hopefully we can form our steering committee and hold a special ceremony to inaugurate the academy by the end of this month. Applications will be opened following this,” he said.
Manfa was an NGO registered two months ago, headed by Ali Rameez.
Speaking with Sun back then, Ali Rameez said the NGO is focused on religious matters, social work and humanitarian aid.
