Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, the president of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) and parliamentary representative of Meedhoo constituency, has conveyed academic new year greetings to the thousands of school students across the Maldives.
The academic new year 2025-26 began on Monday for over 90,000 students and over 11,000 teachers in schools across the country.
In a message on Monday morning, Siyam conveyed best wishes “to beloved students, respected teachers, precious parents and everyone working tirelessly in the education sector.”
“I pray for success and progress for you all,” he added.
Siyam is a key advocate for access to high-quality education in islands across the Maldives, and has personally invested in the country’s education sector for years.
He is also known for advocating for students to be taught practical skills that prepare them for life, beyond what can be taught from books.
Schools had reopened on Monday after a long holiday for Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.
