A young married couple who sustained severe burn injuries in a fire in their home in AA. Rasdhoo on Monday have been put on life support.
The fire was reported to the police at around 11:15 pm Monday. The married couple – a man and woman both 31 years of age – sustained severe burn injuries in the incident and were immediately transferred to Male’ City, where they are being treated at the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
A hospital spokesperson told Sun on Tuesday afternoon that they are in serious condition and that they are both now being treated on ventilators.
A local told Sun that the young couple lived in the house with their five-year-old child – who was unharmed in the incident.
According to the local, the fire originated from one of the rooms in the couple’s home, and caused burns to almost all of their body.
The fire is under investigation by the police.
