Maldives Customs has seized 2,062 vaping items attempted to be smuggled to the Maldives via air.
According to Customs, the items were concealed in the luggage of three passengers who arrived in the Maldives from Malaysia on Tuesday.
The items seized include 1,714 Nano Sticks, 200 Terea Sticks, 96 Caliburn cartridges, 50 V-Mate cartridges, and vaping flavor liquid bottles.
The case is under further investigation by Customs.
Earlier this Ramadan, Customs had seized 400 vaping devices attempted to be smuggled into the Maldives.
The ban on the import, sale, free distribution, and use of vaping devices and e-cigarettes in the Maldives took effect on December 15, 2024. The ban came with hefty fines:
