The Bank of Maldives (BML) announced close to noon on Saturday that the bank’s card services are back online, after a planned maintenance took longer than expected, resulting in interruptions to services that lasted hours.

The national bank had initially warned of interruptions to card services for two hours – between 05:00 am and 07:00 am – for planned maintenance works.

But at around 10:00 am, the bank said that the maintenance was taking longer than expected, and that customers will face interruptions to card services, including on ATMs and POS machines, until around 2:30 pm.

Just before noon, the BML announced that maintenance works were complete and that all card services were available once more.

The bank also thanked customers for their patience.

During the card services interruption, the BML directed customers to use the bank’s mobile and internet banking to make payments.
