The national weather agency forecasts possible thunderstorms in the next two days as a low-level circulation formed to the east of Maldives is expected to move westward.

In a statement on Monday, the Maldives Meteorological Service said the movement of the circulation will result in adverse weather conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday – mainly over northern and central parts of the country.

“The low-level circulation formed to the east of Maldives expected to move westwards causing scattered showers across the country, with possibility of heavy spells and thunderstorms, mostly over the northern and central atolls, on 11th & 12th March,” warned the agency.

All, especially seafarers, are advised to take necessary precautions.

The warnings of heavy rain and thunderstorms come nearly two weeks after torrential rain resulted in flooding in multiple islands, including the capital Male’.
