Teen racing enthusiast from Addu on life support after crash

An aspiring teenage racer crashed his motorbike in an accident in the Hulhumeedhoo district of Addu City on Saturday, leaving him on life support.

Mohamed Ilm, 18, a native of Maradhoo-Feydhoo, had been practicing for a racing competition when he crashed is motorbike.

Khalida Mohamed, a councilwoman from Addu, told Sun on Sunday that Ilm had been practicing in Hulhumeedhoo when he lost control of his motorbike and crashed into a pillar of a building.

He was initially treated at the Addu Equatorial Hospital before getting transferred to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Male’ City on early Sunday.

A spokesperson from IGMH told Sun that he is being treated on a ventilator at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

However, the hospital declined to provide any details regarding his injuries.

The accident is being investigated by the police.
