“The light can be used in the future. None are being brought to Male’ nor the islands it had been brought to before. Hence, approximately MVR 28 million Is expected to be incurred at most for the 36 islands set for this year,” he detailed.

The Minister said residents of Maldives desire joy and happiness during Eid. He also described them as individuals who appreciate beauty. As such, he noted that when the lights were first used in Male’, requests had flowed in from various islands for the lights.

“I believe expenses born for the happiness of the people are extremely important,” he added.

He stressed that the lights are not only used for Eid, adding some islands utilized the lights that they had been provided for occasions such as Independence Day.
