State Trading Organization (STO) has released stocks of eggs, onions, potatoes, and limes to the market at lower prices for Ramadan.

The state-owned company imports essential food products that usually see an increase in price during Ramadan, offering them at more affordable rates.

In this regard, STO, on Wednesday, said they have released special stocks of eggs, onions, potatoes and limes imported for Ramadan which will be available on both retail and wholesale basis.

A case of eggs is sold at MVR 320, accounting for MVR 2 per egg.

A potato sack costs between MVR 360 and MVR 400. A potato case is sold at MVR 360.

STO said special stocks of these food items were imported to maintain their prices at a reasonable level throughout Ramadan and to offer them at lower prices during the period of higher demand.

However, STO noted that changes will be made to the prices of these items to reflect any changes to the market price.

The state-owned company had recently imported stocks of coconut as well.
