Fenaka Corporation has officially handed over 14 ice plants it managed to Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO).
The handover agreement was signed between Fenaka Managing Director Mohamed Najah and MIFCO Chief Executive Vitaliy Lyubimov.
MIFCO confirmed to local media about officially taking over the management of these ice plants, and added their technical and engineering teams were working on resuming operations of these plants.

MIFCO also said this decision is aligned with improving its services.
The ice plants, originally managed by MIFCO, were handed over to Fenaka Corporation on September 22, 2022 during the former administration.
Under Fenaka management, operations of these plants became sluggish with the corporation later in August last year announcing its decision to cease all activities in them.
Speaking on the matter, Minister of Fisheries Ahmed Shiyam, at a parliament summoning, said Fenaka was not established with the corporate objective of managing such ice plants and added the utility provider lacked sufficient finances to manage them as well.
