Maldives Police Service have towed a total of 235 idle vehicles from Male' City roads on Saturday.

These vehicles have been parked and remained idle for significant periods of time.

Police confirmed on X about removing these vehicles, which included 201 bikes, 31 four-wheelers and three bicycles.

The law enforcement authority, earlier in September last year, said they have been towing illegally parked vehicles on the streets.

Over 65 percent of the roads and streets are occupied by parked and idle vehicles, which results in accidents and lack of parking for others, reported the Ministry of Transport previously.

Recently, police with the assistance of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) had towed old and used vehicles from Hulhumale' roads as well.
