The new office building of the Male’ City Council will be ready in 10 months, says Male’ City Mayor Adam Azim.
Construction of the council’s new office complex in Male’ began on Monday.
Speaking during a ceremony held on Saturday morning to kick off a cleanup event in West Maafannu district, Azim said that the city council’s services are currently being run out of nine different buildings, with some of the council’s employees working virtually from their homes.
He said that once the new office building is done, all 1,200 employees of the city council will be working under one roof.
“In 10 months, all 1,200 employees of the Male’ City Council will be working in the Male’ City Council’s own office complex, under one roof. In Sha Allah, the residents of Male’ City will see a very different Male’ City Council,” he said.

He promised to make the city council where residents gladly go to seek services, and to work closely with the people to fulfill their needs.
He described the project to build a new office complex as a key step towards expanding and improving the services provided to over 200,000 people residing in the capital.
Azim said the new building will help save rent cost, improve the speed of services, and ensure uninterrupted service.
The city council’s new two-story office building is being constructed in a 20,000 square feet plot at the Thaisay Koshi.
