Five arrested from Hithadhoo after man found bound, beaten and head half-shaved

Five people have been detained from Addu after a man was tied up, beaten and had half of his hair shaved off in the city’s Hithadhoo district on early Tuesday.

The victim, a 37-year-old Maldivian male, was discovered by police officers on patrol at around 01:35 am on Tuesday.

According to the police, officers were on a routine patrol when they saw a group of individuals fleeing from near the Milo field in Hithadhoo.

Upon closer inspection of the area, the officers found a man tied to a joali – a traditional lounge chair.

The police said that he had half of his hair shaved off and showed other signs of injury.

The police arrested five suspects from the scene, including a 15-year-old boy. The adult suspects were identified as males aged 22, 21, and two 20-year-olds.

The case is under further investigation by the police.
