Two people fleeing after attacking someone with an axe arrested from highway

Two people, suspected to be fleeing after attacking someone with an axe in Hulhumale’, were stopped and arrested from the highway last night while on the way to Male’.

The two suspects have been identified as Abdulla Zahid, 18, Star, B. Hithaadhoo and Rusthum Ibrahim, 25, Heenaamaage, GDh. Fiyoari.

Police, in a message to the media on Sunday morning, said a report was made at approximately 23:35pm last night after an individual, who waiting on the west side Rehendhi Turf Stadium in Boaganvilla Magu at Hulhumale’, was attacked by two people on a motorbike.

The person injured in the attack has been discharged after treatment at Hulhumale’ Hospital. The Police said they have been informed that the attack was carried out using an axe.

They detailed that the two suspects were stopped and arrested from the highway while fleeing to Male’. The weapon used to carry out the attack and a knife were also discovered in the area.
