Police investigate street fight in Galolhu after video shows man attacking elderly woman

Police are investigating a violent altercation between a man and an elderly woman that occurred on Halaveli Street in Galolhu, Male’ City.

The incident was reported at 20:59 hrs on Tuesday evening, according to a police statement. While further details were not disclosed, authorities confirmed that the case is under investigation.

A video circulating on social media shows a man repeatedly striking an elderly woman. Another man is seen attempting to restrain the attacker, who eventually breaks free and hits the woman on the head several times before fleeing the alley. The woman is then seen pointing in the direction he ran and speaking, though her words are inaudible in the footage.

Police have not released information about the cause of the dispute or the condition of those involved.
