President departs on official visit to Estonia

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Sunday evening has departed on an official visit to Estonia.

The visit comes at the invitation of the President of Estonia, Dr. Alar Karis.

This also marks the first-ever official visit to Estonia by a sitting Maldivian president.

President Muizzu is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers and senior government officials in the visit, and will engage in various meetings and other high-level engagements which aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the Maldives and Estonia. 

The discussions will focus on key areas such as digital innovation, cybersecurity, and e-governance, climate and environmental issues, and advancements in science and education.

The objective of this official visit is to pave way for the digital transformation of the Maldives envisioned by President Muizzu.
