Banks to close for New Year’s holiday

Banks in the Maldives are set to close for the New Year’s holidays.

The Bank of Maldives (BML) announced on Wednesday morning that its branches and service centers will be closed for five days from December 31, 2024 to January 4, 2025.

The bank will reopen after the holiday on January 5.

BML said that though the bank’s branches will be closed for five days for the holiday, customers can continue to enjoy uninterrupted services through internet and mobile banking and self-service ATMs.

Customers can also reach out for support to the 24/7 contact center at 3330200, web chat and the bank’s verified WhatsApp channel at 9990200.

Meanwhile, the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has also confirmed it will close for the New Year’s holiday, but that banking services will continue to be available online.

The central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) will also be closed for the holiday.

Over the holiday, banks will be conducting their annual audit.
