Ministry of Housing has begun efforts to map the city after some of the imagery of the city was destroyed in Thursday’s fire in green building that housed multiple ministries and the Male’ City Council.
The green building housed the Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure, Ministry of Environment, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and offices of Male’ City Council.
All the offices have been relocated to Dharubaaruge on Sunday, and effectively begun their operations.
The ministry in a post on X said on Monday that they have utilized the help of drones to map out the city.
There were concerns that documents related to Male’ residents, birth certificates, and building registries – all handled by the Male’ City Council – might have been destroyed in the fire. The authority however, confirmed that 90 percent of its documents were saved.
The council has also shifted these services to its Hulhumale’ section in the meantime.
“Our primary objective is now to set up a system that ensures safety of data and documents in the event of a similar incident in the future,” Male’ City Mayor Adam Azim said.
