National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) states the people who were relocated to temporary homes following the fire that broke out at a residential home in Fuvahmulah City last Tuesday still remain at those locations.

The fire broke out at a residential home located in the City’s Miskiymagu district called ‘Shiva’. Photos of the scene shared by Maldives Defense Force (MNDF) show that the house was burned down beyond use in the fire.

Sharing the latest updates regarding the fire on Sunday, an official from NDMA told Sun that 10 people provided temporary housing following the fire continue to reside at these locations.

The official said they would be provided temporary housing and other basic necessities until the house was repaired and made tenantable.

No law enforcement agency has disclosed the reason behind the fire.

Fires in the Maldives have usually been a result of electricity shortage or gas leaks with such incidents racking up huge sums in losses.
