Maldives Metrological Service (Met Office) states Addu City experienced the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours, recording 110 millimeters of rain.

In a weather brief on Monday, Met office said Maldives experienced nationwide rain in the past 24 hours due to the combined effect of monsoon transition and a low-level circulation formed over the region.

According to the Met Office, Hithadhoo in Addu City received the highest rainfall, recording 110.6 millimeters. Meanwhile, Gan in the same atoll saw 106 millimeters of rain. AA. Thoddoo and ADh. Maamigli recorded 103 millimeters and 95 millimeters of rainfall, respectively.

Some islands in Addu City were flooded following heavy rain. Subsequently, MNDF was mobilized for dewatering.

Met Office expects the bad weather to continue for the next three days.

They have issued a white alert for atolls from Haa Alifu to Thaa until 18:30pm this evening. The region is expected to see heavy rain and thunderstorms during this period.
