Criminal Court has said that the trial regarding the murder of Hussain Mohamed Manik (Husseynubey) 61, Haa Alif Hoarafushi Seaview, is being delayed due to difficulties in bringing the secret witnesses proposed by the state to court.
The judge presiding over the trial said today that they have now obtained the secret statement of the last remaining witness, and that hearings will be held more frequently in the future.
Witness statements were given today for the case regarding theft and terrorism charges taken up against Nooman Abdulla, Haa Alif Hoarafushi, Soasan Villa and Mohamed Latheef Haa Alif, Haa Alif Hoarafushi Holheege. The witnesses were presented by the state.
Providing the statement in a manner which disguised the person’s identity, the person said that the defendants Latheef and Nooman were seen walking near Latheef’s house, but said that they were not carrying anything.
In addition to Latheef and Nooman, one Ahmed Ibrahim, Haa Alif Hoarafushi Umeedhee Manzil also carries charges regarding the case.
Speaking to the court, the state prosecutor asked the court to summon a policeman, whom the state has presented as a witness. The prosecutor also asked the court, if such instances arise, to allow more witnesses on behalf of the state.
The judge said that the court will summon any witnesses needed for the trial, regardless of which side presents them.
The defendants carry terrorism charges for kidnapping the victim, and theft charges for being accused of stealing more than one hundred rufiyaa, including some amount of dollars from the victim’s house.
