Pres. Muizzu expresses admiration for bravery of Palestinians in message to leaders

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed deep admiration for the steadfastness and bravery of the Palestinian people as they continue to resist oppression and injustice.

The President sent separate messages to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammad Mustafa occasion of the 36th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of Palestine.

In his messages, President Muizzu extended well wishes on the occasions while expressing admiration for the steadfastness and bravery of the Palestinian people as they continue to resist oppression and injustice.

He reaffirmed Maldives' unwavering support and solidarity with Palestine and reiterated the country's commitment to advocating for an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He concluded the messages by extending his best wishes to President Mahmoud and Prime Minister Mustafa, for lasting peace and progress of the brotherly people of Palestine.

Israel has continued a devastating war on Gaza since October last year which has killed more than 43,500 Palestinians so far, 70 percent of them women and children, and over 102,700 others wounded, according to local health authorities.

Maldives is among nations that have repeatedly called for a ceasefire and an independent Palestine state at various international foras.
