Nasheed and Moosa Ali Jaleel granted permission to travel abroad

Former President Mohamed Nasheed and former Chief of Defence Force Moosa Ali Jaleel have been granted permission to travel out the country.

An official from the judiciary said today that, in letter submitted to the Hulhumale’ Court, Nasheed specified his planned term of absence would be from today until the Thursday of this week, and had specified the reason as; to travel abroad.

The official also said that the letter submitted by Moosa Ali Jaleel had specified his dates of absence as from the 30th of January until the 15th of next month.

The State is prosecuting former president Nasheed and Moosa Ali Jaleel on charges related to the illegal detention of the Criminal Court Judge Abdulla Mohamed. The charges against them stand for "the illegal detention of person who had not committed a crime."
