Maldives National University (MNU), on Thursday, held its convocation ceremony with 311 graduates from various courses.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu attended the ceremony held this morning as the chief guest.
Notably, the first batch of students from MNU’s School of Medicine were among the graduates. In this regard, a total of 21 students graduated with a degree in Doctor of Medicine. The students were presented their certificates by President Muizzu.
Speaking at the convocation ceremony, MNU’s Chancellor Dr. Mohamed Shaugy said this year’s convocation marked a historical moment.
“In a moment, the University’s legal document that represents that hard work undertaken by 311 students will be bestowed upon them. We proudly note that they include the first batch of students graduating with a degree in Doctor of Medicine,” he said.
President Muizzu, who also spoke at the ceremony, appealed to graduates to resolve to build the nation as their biggest goal while assuring the government will undertake efforts to meet their housing needs.
“I want to note two things from the budget which will be presented today that are aimed at ensuring housing opportunities. In this regard, MVR 1.5 billion in fiscal construction housing projects will be implemented next year. The housing loan scheme with interest that is not higher than five percent as I have pledged will be launched next week or early next month,” he said.
