Govt seeks consultant to develop SOE financial monitoring system

The Ministry of Finance has announced seeking an “SOE financial consultant” to develop a streamlined system to monitor the financial health and performances of the state-owned enterprises.

The job, on a contractual basis for a period of one year, comes with a remuneration of MVR 30,000 per month. The position was opened for highly experienced professionals, specifically in the fields of accounting or finance.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their ‘Expression of Interest’ (EoI) before 13:00hrs on October 29th either via email or physically to the ministry’s office. The applicants must provide their curriculum vitae (CV), a copy of the national ID card, and copies of the attested academic certificates, and employment reference letters.

  • Professional-level or a similar level certificate in accounting, finance, or financial management
  • Experience in private sector financial performance monitoring and evaluation
  • Minimum of five-year work experience in a public sector role monitoring and evaluating financial performances
  • Experienced in the public sector, especially monitoring and evaluating SOEs
  • Both oral and written proficiency in English
  • Able to develop, formulate or set financial reporting, strategy and governance, management accounting, audit and insurance, finance, taxation and internal controls

The ministry’s announcement seeking an SOE financial consultant has come amid the government’s strong and ongoing efforts for austerity measures towards financial sustainability.

The government’s cost-cutting measures include the more recent announcement from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu about pay cuts from senior-most government officials, including the president himself, parliament lawmakers and political appointees.
