The Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) 2024 – the biggest run in the Maldives - is set to begin on Friday at the Central Park in Hulhumale’.

The 15th edition of the race will be held in two sessions. The half-marathon and 10K races will take place in the morning from 05:00 am to 09:00 am, and the 5K, open, school and office/resort races will take place from 04:00 pm to 06:00 pm.

Over 4,400 runners have registered to participate in this year’s race. This includes over 90 teams who have registered to participate in a new category introduced this year – the office and resort – 5K team event.

The evening’s session will also feature the DMRR Food Street. The Central Park will be lined up with stalls by home-based local food vendors, including women-owned small businesses, in partnership with the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Maldives (WEAM).

It will also feature a Kids Zone with gaming stalls set up in partnership with Adventure Up Gaming, as well as stalls by local NGOs.

The race will wrap up with a gaming tournament between 08:30 pm and 11:00 pm, where gamers will battle it out on Rocket Leage, EAFC 25, and King of the Hill to win on the spot cash prizes.

The gaming tournament is open for walk-in registrations.

Similar to previous years, DMRR 2024 is dedicated towards the social cause of child protection, one of the key focus areas of Dhiraagu’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program. The run will provide a platform for NGOs working in the area of child protection to raise awareness and funds for their cause.

The DMRR is the first and only international run held in the Maldives that is listed in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running calendar with a World Athletics-certified race route.

The roads will be closed on race routes during the race.
