Maldive Gas’ Managing Director Abdulla Mohamed has denied social media rumors of a shortage in gas sold to households.

Abdulla Mohamed, who has previously served as a Deputy Minister at the Economic Ministry, said there are no difficulties in supplying gas to households. However, he noted a slight shortage in 45-kilo gas cylinders on Tuesday, which he said has now been resolved.

“It is a huge lie. There was a shortage yesterday, of 45-kilo (gas cylinders). But this has been resolved now,” he said.

Abdulla Mohamed attributed Tuesday’s shortage to a delay in the arrival of a transportation boat. In this regard, he detailed that delays usually span a day. However, this time, he said there was a delay of a couple of days.

He stressed that the delay was from the supplier’s side while affirming Maldive Gas has no financial difficulties.
