Roads to be closed during Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race

Dhiraagu has informed the public that the roads falling in the route of Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race 2024 (DMRR 2024) will be closed during the event.

DMRR 2024 will be held on Friday in Hulhumale’, with the starting point set near the Central Park area.

Dhiraagu stressed that the roads in the race route will be closed during the event which has already been announced by the Transport Ministry.

In this regard, the roads will be closed during the following times:

  • 5:00am to 9:00am on Friday morning
  • 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Friday evening

An announcement gazetted by the Transport Ministry identified the roads will be closed.

Dhiraagu attributed the road closure to ensure the safety and security of participants in the race. However, the company noted that authorized event vehicles will be operating during these times.

DMRR 2024 is the largest annual run in the Maldives. This year marks the 15th edition of the run, which is scheduled to take place this Friday at Central Park in Hulhumale’.

Over 4,400 runners have registered to participate in this year’s event.

Half marathon and 10K events in DMRR 2024 are scheduled for the morning while the 5K event is scheduled for the evening.

DMRR is the only racing event in the Maldives that falls in line with international standards and is listed on calendar Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running Calendar with a world athletics-certified race route.
