Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal states arrangements have been completed to hold investor forums in four countries next year.
Minister Faisal made the remark while responding to a question by Vaikaradhoo MP Hussain Ziyadh at Wednesday’s parliamentary sitting.
In this regard, Ziyadh, underscoring that the former administration initiated efforts to develop Hanimaadhoo International Airport to boost tourism in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, inquired about the effort being undertaken by the current administration to increase beds in the atoll.
In response, Minister Faisal said it was the responsibility of the Tourism Ministry to fulfill pledges made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu with respect to the tourism industry and in this trajectory, said investor forums have been scheduled for next year’s first and second quarters.
The investment forums will be held in Singapore, United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s Dubai, Thailand and India.
The Minister, noting the development of Hanimadhoo Airport is expected to be completed by next year’s March, said the Ministry was undertaking efforts to introduce approximately 4,000 new beds in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
He detailed that information regarding islands will be shared during these forums, adding investors who have already invested in the Maldives can participate in these forums as well.
In this regard, he said such individuals can convey their investing experiences at the forums. Such forums, he added, will pave way for more investment opportunities in the Maldivian tourism industry.
Notably, investor forums have previously been held in Dubai and China.
