Sinamale’ Bridge monument park inaugurated

The monument park of the largest infrastructure project successfully completed so far in the Maldives, the Sinamale’ bridge, was inaugurated on Saturday.

At the special ceremony held on Saturday afternoon, the Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib and the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Lixin.

During the ceremony, visitors got the chance to view pictures and information that highlighted the construction and development phases of the bridge.

Speaking to the local media after the event, the minister highlighted the importance of disclosing the project’s information to the public as it had been developed with a significant grant from the Chinese government as well.

The minister, while noting Sinamale’ Bridge is the largest development project in the Maldives so far, said the monument park will allow the public to get information about the initiative easily.

The Chinese Ambassador, speaking about the bridge said it was a symbol of the strong friendship between the Maldives and China and added the vast economic benefits to the island nation due to the structure.

The incumbent President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who had been the Housing Minister during former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration, played an instrumental role in the development of the Sinamale’ Bridge.
