A young schoolgirl died on Thursday at the Huravee School, a public school located in Hulhumale’ Phase I.
A police spokesperson identified the deceased as a 13-year-old girl.
According to the police, they received a report on Thursday morning regarding a school student being taken to the Hulhumale’ Hospital after suffering a medical emergency.
“The hospital informed the police that she was already deceased when taken there,” said the spokesperson.
The Education Ministry later identified the schoolgirl as Fathimath Shima Mohamed. In a post on X, the ministry conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
In a separate post on X, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said he had been deeply affected and concerned to learn of Shima’s sudden death.
“May the parents and family of the beloved student, her friends, classmates, and the rest of the students and staff of Huravee School find patience in this difficult time,” he said
