The government has decided to change the Maldivian Ambassador to India.

The post is currently held by Ibrahim Shaheeb.

The appointment of a new ambassador is slated on the agenda of Monday’s parliamentary sitting as the parliament is set to reconvene for a new session after recess.

The government has yet to disclose whether Shaheeb is being dismissed from the post or being shifted to another post.

Shaheeb was appointed the Maldivian Ambassador to India on October 10, 2022, during the former administration.

Shaheeb completed his Masters in Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore. He has previously held the post of Chief of Protocol, and Additional Secretary, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
