Dharavandhoo records 65 mph winds; Hulhule’ sees 37.2 mm rainfall

B. Dharavandhoo experienced the strongest winds while Hulhule’ recorded the heaviest rainfall on Friday, as two circulations in the far north and south of the Maldives, cause bad weather across the country.

The Maldives Meteorological Service shared the weather statistics for Friday a statement on Saturday.

According to the weather agency, the strongest winds on Friday were recorded in Dharavandhoo. The island, which usually sees average winds of 23 miles per hour, recorded gust winds of 65 miles per hour on Friday.

It followed winds of 56 miles per hour in Male’, and 52 miles per hour in K. Gaafaru.

The heaviest rainfall was recorded in Hulhule’.

  • Hulhule’: 37.2 millimeters
  • AA. Thoddoo: 36.6 millimeters
  • R. Ifuru: 34.5 millimeters
  • Male’: 31 millimeters

The Meteorological Service said it expects the adverse weather conditions to continue over the Maldives until Monday.

The weather agency has urged everyone to exercise caution during this period, particularly seafarers, who are advised to consult updated weather information before planning any voyages.
