Shahid meets UN Secretary General Guterres

Main opposition MDP’s leader Abdulla Shahid has met with the Secretary General of the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

Shahid, who served as the Foreign Ministry during the last MDP administration, has also served as the President of the United Nations General Assembly.

Sharing information regarding the meeting via a post on X, Shahid said it was an honor to return to the United Nations over the past few days during which he had the brief opportunity to meet with Secretary General Guterres regarding his ongoing work with the International Communities Organization (ICO).  

It was an honour to return to the United Nations, over the past few days.

I had the opportunity to brief the Secretary-General, H.E. Mr. @antonioguterres, on my ongoing work with the International Communities Organisation.

He added that ICO’s efforts are dedicated to supporting diplomacy at the highest level, mediating disputes, and building trust.

“Through impartial engagement, we work to ensure that all communities have the tools and representation they need to pursue sustainable peace and cooperation,” he stressed.
