Campaign to combat crime begins

A campaign commenced today calling to create a peaceful atmosphere for everyone.

The campaign which was initiated by the police will be carried until the end of the year. It was inaugurated by the Commissioner of Police Abdulla Riyaz and Home Minister Dr. Mohamed Jameel.

Speaking at the inauguration, Commissioner Riyaz said that the police will lead weekly and monthly activities related to combating crime in the society.

In his speech, Home Minister Jameel said that if everybody works hand in hand, it is possible to create a peaceful environment and said that he is pleased to see different organizations participating in the campaign.

Government offices, Non-Governmental Organizations and schools carried out a walk this evening to mark the commencement of the campaign.

A large number of people participated and expressed their feelings during the walk, which called for everybody to come together to combat crime.
