Discussions held on expanding agriculture at MIFCO sites

MIFCO has held discussions with senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare regarding avenues to expand agriculture at the state fisheries company’s sites.

Discussions were held on conducting research on the farmlands at MIFCO’s sites and expanding agriculture at these sites. In this trajectory, it was decided that a plan would be formulated to implement the expansion of agriculture at MIFCO sites.

Important discussions were also held on increasing the number of animals such as goats and chickens that are domesticated at MIFCO’s sites at Felivaru and Kooddoo.

Extensive discussions were also held on how the practical work on the expansion of agriculture at Funaddoo site will be implemented and conducting technical training for MIFCO employees on farming.

MIFCO said officials from the Ministry assured full cooperation to MIFCO in the pursuit.

This includes assistance in identifying and finding solutions to diseases and other problems encountered to trees and livestock at the farmlands in MIFCO sites. Discussions were also held on the Ministry providing technical assistance to MIFCO.

The practice of agriculture at MIFCO’s sites has saved some expenses incurred to facilitate food for the employees based at these sites. The state fisheries company said they also sell animals such as goats and chicken to manage their expenses.
