Baarah MP and main ruling PNC’s Parliamentary Group’s Senior Deputy Leader Ibrahim Shajau has purchased a land plot measuring over 2,000 square feet from Hulhumale’ for MVR 9.4 million.
Civil Court awarded the land plot to Shujau on Thursday.
As per the Court’s ruling, Shujau purchased a land plot measuring 2,196.37 square feet from the area reclaimed under Hulhumale’ Phase II.
The price of the land plot is MVR 8.8 million. However, the total price, including Goods and Service Tax (GST), is MVR 9.4 million.
Shujau has settled the payment with Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
Shujau was elected to the Baarah seat in 2014’s parliamentary election and served as the parliamentary representative for the Baarah constituency from 2014 to 2019. He failed to defend the seat in 2019, losing the election to Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s Ahmed Abdulla.
He contested and was re-elected for the seat in 2024’s election. At that time, he was serving as Hulhumale’ Councilor in Male’ City Council; a seat he had won by a landslide in 2021’s Male’ City Council elections.
Shujau also runs his own business.
Notably, Huraa MP Anara Naeem from PNC recently swapped one of her properties for a beachside land plot from Hulhumale’. Health Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel has also purchased a flat from Hulhumale’ for MVR 3.1 million.
