Private broadcasters hold meeting

A meeting has been held by private broadcasters to discuss the pressures and challenges faced by media.

Topics discussed during the meeting held at Lemongrass include the challenges involved in the broadcast of live programs, and pressures and threats faced by independent media.

They also talked about the responsibilities of the media regulators in dealing with these challenges.

The meeting concluded with the decision to meet with the Broadcasting Commission tomorrow.

The participants of today’s meeting include VTV, DhiTV, Atoll Radio, DhiFM, SunFM, Sun Online, Haveeru and Haama newpapers.

Of late, threatening, warning and intimidating media has become common.
