Minister Muthalib tours site for Mumbai underwater tunnel

Maldivian Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdulla Muthalib visited the project site for an underwater tunnel being built in Mumbai on Tuesday, as part of an official visit to India.

Muthalib was accompanied in the site visit by State Minister Tho’aam Mohmed, State Minister Ismail Hameed, and Indian High Commissioner Munu Mahawar.

The Adit Tunnel in Mumbai is the commencement point of the 7.1-kilometer underwater tunnel for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail.

“This visit underscores exchanging knowledge and exploring possible translatable novel methodologies that could be imported to refine and streamline infrastructure projects within the Maldives,” said the ministry, in a post on X.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had previously said that Rasmale’ – a land reclamation project in Fushidhiggaru Falhu – will be linked to Male’ City via an underwater tunnel.
