21-year-old in critical condition following traffic collision in Male’

A car and a motorcycle collided in an accident in Male’ on early Thursday, leaving a young man in critical condition.

According to the police, the accident took place at corner of Boduthakurufaanu Magu and Koimalaa Hingun in Male’ City at around 12:53 am Thursday.

The accident resulted in critical injuries to the motorcyclist, identified by the police as a 21-year-old male.

He was taken to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

A spokesperson from the IGMH told Sun that the young man is in critical condition, and is being treated on a ventilator at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The hospital declined to disclose details regarding his injuries.

A video taken in the immediate aftermath of the accident shows the young man being put into an ambulance. He appeared unconscious and was bleeding from the nose.

The accident is under investigation by the police.
