Man goes missing on weekend trip to sandbank

A man has gone missing after travelling to a sandbank with his friends on a weekend trip.

Thasleem Mohamed, 42, was reported missing to the police by his family at 01:00 pm on Friday.

A family member told Sun that he had gone with his friends to a sandbank near Huvafen Fushi, a resort located in North Male’ Atoll, on Friday.

He went missing at the sandbank.

According to the family, desperate searches by his friends came up empty.

“The friends who went with him could not find him despite searching. It is not even clear if he went missing in the waters,” said the family member on Saturday.

The family said that the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) are searching the area.

However, neither the police nor the MNDF have made any official comment regarding the case.

Male’-born Thasleem had been living in Hulhumale’ Phase I.
