Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, departed to Singapore on Monday night on an unofficial visit.

Addressing a People’s National Congress (PNC) rally mere hours before, President Muizzu addressed rumors he hit his head after collapsing inside a bathroom at Aarah.

He said he sustained an injury playing football at Aarah “about two or three nights back” and consulted with a doctor at the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

“Though I am not a great sportsman, I try to play football at least thrice a week at the football field there. I sustained a minor injury the last night I played,” he said.

President Muizzu said he was travelling to Singapore for a routine follow-up on a surgery he underwent two years back, and for a second opinion regarding his recent injury.

His current trip to Singapore is a two-day visit.
