Mushaath Musthaq has been crowned the winner of Season 5 of “Madhaha Ran Adu”.
The awards ceremony of the hymn recital competition, organized by the Maldives Music and Arts Center (MMAC), was held on Saturday evening.
The competition’s winner received a special gift sponsored by the President of the Maldives and an Umrah package sponsored by The Traveller Hajja and Umrah Group.
Mohamed Raush bin Siraj, the runner-up of the competition, and the third-place winner Fathimath Alisha Shiyam, were also conferred with gifts.
A total of 139 recitals, from multiple categories, were presented by the contestants in this year’s hymn recital competition.
The awards categories include ‘Best Original Tune’, ‘Best Lyrics’, ‘Best Virtual Madhaha’, most popular hymns both from individual islands and atolls, and the best hymn of the competition.
Ibrahim Nathiq, from R. Maduvvari won the ‘Best Virtual Madhaha’ award while Alana Ali Dawood and Alaya Azmiya Latheef won the most popular hymn (island) and most popular hymn (atoll), respectively.
The ‘Best Original Tune’ was composed by renowned signer and music composer Mohamed Abdul Ghanee (Theyravaa).
The Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage penned hymn was selected as the winner of the ‘Best Lyrics’ award.
Speaking at the awarding ceremony, Minister of Housing Dr. Ali Haidar, who attended as the chief guest, said hymn recitals gave ideal opportunities to express the love for Islamic religion.
He also stressed the current administration intends on promoting all professional and creative fields. He also expressed joy stating the quality of the performances from the participants in such competitions have been improving.
Minister Haidar concluded his remarks by thanking the participants, their parents, and the coaches for their contributions.
At the awarding ceremony, the organizers officially announced the Season 6 of the competition as well.
MMCA’s “Madhaha Ran Adu” Season 5 was held in collaboration with SSTV of Sun Media Group. Season 6 of the competition will be a collaborative effort among state agencies, the organizers announced.
